I"m back, not really much into blogging and I don't have a lot to say. I did take a photo of the hideous orange barf scarf....

Slump

I finally finished a neck warmer made with the Ella Rae Pebbly from the grab bag. I did not enjoy knitting it, hated the yarn and IMO, the finished product looks like pure shit. The yarn is a boucle and impossible to tink. I had some leftover and just tossed it, there's no way it's going in the basket with my other ends, I don't want that crap giving my leftovers any ideas. I know I need to take a photo and post it just to say there's 2 less balls left in the bag. I"ll do that tomorrow, or maybe I won't. I just don't want to look at it.
And now I have 5 balls to go. I know what I'm going to do with 3 of them, but the other 2 are a ribbon yarn and I"m not looking forward to working with that.
Maybe I'm just in mega-bitch mode.

And Another One Down

I used the second skein of Nature's Cotton for another chemo cap, it seems big, but I'm sure someone can use it.

I think this is the 7th ball from the bag, over the half mark!

Another One Bites the Dust

Yesterday, I cast on Big Button Hat using the Rowan Big Wool from my grab bag. I don't think it took 2 hours from start to finish. Still had some yarn leftover, so I did a ribbed headband...not even a foot of yarn remained!

I like the way the hat turned out, I'll probably give the headband to my nephew, it'll match his hair :-)

2 More Down...

for a whopping total of 5 out of the 12 I got in the grab bag. I made the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi with Katia Austral, used almost all of it, but still had a bit leftover, so I made a little hat with the rest. I found out that PK Knits collects hats for preemies, so I'll drop that off soon.

Today, I met up with my knitting group at Culvers and found out that my shawl/stole-UpChuck- was commented on Ravelry by the designer. I'm so glad that I explained my choice of the name in the comments section and that I was bitching about the yarn and not the pattern. So glad she has a sense of humor about it.

4 ½ Steps Forward...

19 steps back...AARRGGHH!!!! My friend, Brenda, and I went to the tent sale at Mary Maxim , it's the last day of the sale, plus since it's Tuesday and I"m old (they offer a 20% discount to those 50 and up on Tuesdays), we just had to make it there. Gotta love that discount, it's almost like a consolation prize for the hot flashes and making it through raising kids. Like the fine folks at Mary Maxim are saying "You poor thing, you're old and you have droopy boobs, here, take a few pennies off that skein of yarn you've been drooling on." Maybe not, who knows? I took it, I ain't proud.
I got 3 balls of Mary Maxim Step It Up, 6 balls of Fibranatura Oak, and a bag of 10 skeins of mystery yarn--a soft, cream colored concoction. Also picked up some needles and 5 packs of water marbles to use in neck coolers for the troops.

After our trip, we stopped for dinner at Wendy's (I behaved and got a salad, although it killed me to not get the fries), and then did the grocery shopping for my mom. It was almost 9:30 by the time I got home. I left the house at 7 this morning for work and kept going from there. Now I"m old AND tired...........Good night!

The Third Ball

Now that I got the fuzzy stuff out of the way, I decided to tackle the Natures Cotton. I made a hat to take to Knit Michigan next year. They collect chemo caps and donate them to hospitals for cancer patients. I've made this pattern a few times in cotton yarn to donate, as of this writing, I have one done and will most likely use the other hank for the same.

3 balls down...yee haw!

Upchuck

While I like most of what I got from DBNY, I DID NOT care for the Ingenua and Ingenua Print--horrible, ugly, fuzzy stuff. It's got to go. Period.
I had a pattern for Claire that a friend had given me, she was also making it and using a fuzzy yarn, so I decided to use my fuzzy yarn for the same thing.
I was able to knit through this rather quickly, my mother fell and spent a few days in the hospital, so I took this to pass the time with. I don't like it at all, although I like the pattern, a very simple and quick knit.
2 balls down, not a bad start!

Grab Bag

A couple of weeks ago, while on Ravelry, I read a post about the fantastic grab bags from DBNY. So I float over there and before you know it, I ordered one. And here is what I got in the mail a few days later...

All in all, there was:
1 ball of Katia Ingenua Print
1 ball of Katia Ingenua
1 ball of Rown Big Wool
1 hank of Katia Nordic
2 balls of Ella Rae Pebbly
2 hanks of Araucania Nature Cotton, in 2 different colors
2 balls of Crystal Palace Trio, in 2 different colors
2 balls of Katia Austral, both same color
and a card with SWTC Amazing, doesn't appear to be much there, probably a sample.
I also got 2 patterns, an older issue of Creative Knitting (which I didn't have, so it's all good), and 3 darning needles. All that for $32 and some change, which included a discount and postage...a real steal! Now to knit it up, I really have too much (never thought I'd say that!)

The Beginning

Ok, I'm not much into blogging and I don't know what I"m doing. I came to the realization that I have a ridiculous amount of yarn and it has to stop somewhere, so this might as well be the place. I doubt anyone will ever read this, but if I put it down in black and white (or whatever color this shows up), maybe I'll be more likely to follow through with my plan to knit up my stash. Odds are, I won't wear what I make, except for socks and one sweater, I never do. At the moment, I have three drawers full of stuff I've knit, one of them is just shawls. I'll post pictures eventually, along with the stash.
And here we go...
